Bethpage Union Free School District Administration

The Bethpage Union Free School District is governed by a seven-member Board of Education. The Board consists of six trustees elected by the community and one student trustee elected by the high school students. Trustees serve staggered three-year terms and are not term-limited. The Board elects a President and Vice President from among its members at its organizational meeting in July.

The primary role of the Board of Education is to develop policy for the operation of the school district. Board policies provide guidance to the Superintendent of Schools and staff in their decision making and implementation of programs and services. All policies must be consistent with state law and regulations.

The Board meets regularly on the second and fourth Wednesday evenings of each month at 8:00 p.m., except in August, when there is no meeting,

and on the first Wednesday evening in December, when the meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. Some meetings are held in executive session, which is closed to the public, for discussion on certain topics as permitted by law.

Bethpage School Board Election 2022

The next Bethpage School Board election will be held on May 17, 2022. The nine members of the Bethpage School Board are elected to three-year terms in a nonpartisan election. The terms of office for three members of the Bethpage School Board expire on June 30, 2022.

All registered voters in the Bethpage Union Free School District are eligible to vote in the school board elections. Voting is conducted by paper ballot at the polling place assigned to each voter’s address.
